DescriptionSU.VI.MAX is a double-blind placebo-controlled prevention trial designed to test the effects of daily supplementation with nutritional doses of antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, zinc and selenium) on the incidence of ischaemic heart diseases and of cancers in a population of adult men and women. This 8-year intervention started in France in 1994-1995 with 13 017 participants and monitoring of health events was pursued until September 2007.
